Welcome LTAS - Newest Section of the BC Library Association
It is with much joy that I am able to report from the BCLA AGM that the Library Technicians' & Assistants' Section (LTAS) is now the newest section of the British Columbia Library Association. My sincere congratulations and thanks to all of our membership and supporters.
The creation of LTAS has been two years in the making, and has counted on the hard work and support of many members. Most notably I would like to recognize the work of Stephen Karr and Sandra Cole for carrying the signatures and the petition over the past two years, the LTAIG executive that preceded me, including Sarah Felkar as co-chair with Stephen Karr, who drafted the constitution and by-laws for LTAS. The resolution could not have succeeded without all the members of the current LTAIG Board who worked so tirelessly to collect first signatures and then proxy votes, and who communicated the aims and purpose of LTAS out to broader membership.
Our resolution passed unanimously at the AGM, and with the aided assistance of 87 proxy votes. I think all of us who attended were truly moved at the level of support and the welcome we received as the newest section of BCLA. Annette DeFaveri, BCLA's Executive Director, and many more send their congratulations to membership.
Technicians and assistants in BCLA will now have a stronger voice and presence in the association, and will be represented on the BCLA Board. We look forward to an exciting and promising first year in this new capacity as part of BCLA.
We did it!
