Media Democracy

A healthy democracy depends on citizens having the ability to know what is happening. Media concentration has long been a reality in Canada, for example with the Canwest ownership of major dailies throughout western Canada. Media concentration is rapidly becoming an emerging issue and concern in other countries as well. The Information Policy Committee follows trends in the media, and participates in the very popular Media Democracy Day events held each fall in Vancouver.
