9:30 - 10:30 Chuck Eckman, Dean of Library Services, Simon Fraser University, will discuss learnings about promoting global transparency through the experience of building the GATT Digital Library <gatt.stanford.edu>. Among his extensive experience prior to coming to SFU, Chuck was a Government Documents librarian at Stanford University.

10:45 - 11:45 Ingrid Parent, University Librarian, University of British Columbia, will speak about globalized information policy trends. Libraries thrive on synergy from research, instruction and study. In today's globalized information world, we are dependent on technology infrastructures to support open access research and study. Open access for government information, GIS mapping, and data management are key trends that UBC Library will highlight in a global and local context. Ingrid came to UBC from Library and Archives Canada and is president-elect of IFLA. Presentation.

Sam Trosow, Associate Professor at the University of Western Ontario, jointly appointed to the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Information and Media Studies (FIMS), will discuss Canadian copyright issues facing academic libraries today.
Between issues surrounding the Access Copyright tariff, the fair dealing dealing guidelines (plural because CAUT is working on a set to be released soon which will be quite different from AUCC's version) and a possible new government there should be a lot to talk about so we will need to think about how to best focus this
